One dull afternoon, four friends, Elma, Mario, Sanin and Damir, decide to play out the story of the Little Red Riding Hood in the attic
of Mario's apartment. The story begins with Little Red Polka Dotty (named so on account of her white-dotted hood), who, since none of her friends wanted to
play with her outdoors, went off to find new friends in the Enchanted Forest - Pinocchio, the three piglets, Hansel and Gretel. They teach her how to play
interesting games, games forgotten today, games kids used to play a long time ago, at a time before computers. In the game, Little Red Polka Dotty discovers
the plan of the Wolf and the Evil Witch to steal her grandmother's winter groceries. She and all her friends from the Enchanted Forest then decide to pull
together and use tricks from the magical games in order to stop the Wolf and the Evil Witch – and they succeed. In the end, Mario, Elma, Sanin and Damir
decide to play out a different fairy tale each day at Mario's house, having discovered that it is much more interesting to play together than to play on a
computer.
The play is set to premiere on 12 March 2010.

"PUSS IN BOOTS"
Based on Charles Perrault's fable
Adaptation and director:Drago Buka
Playwright: Aida Pilav
Cast:
KING GENCIJAN: Damir Kustura
QUEEN GENCIJANA: Elma Ahmetović
PRINCESS GENCIJANELA: Merima Lepić
PUSS PRILIP: Mario Drmać
TITAN EUKALIPTUS GLOBULUS MRGUDUS: Damir Kustura
NEVEN: Sanin Milavić
JAVOR: Mirza Tanovi
JASEN: Adnan Goro
CAT CIMICIFUGA: Adnan Goro
The text of “Puss in Boots” is based on Charles Perrault's fable, to which Drago Buka has added his own commentary to the life that we lead today, aspects of which can be seen in the plot of the play: three brothers decide to divide their father's estate,
and leave their youngest brother Neven only his cat and books. But the cat's wisdom and ingenuity will rescue Neven from a life of misery and give the story a universal happy ending. With its dynamicity, colourful approach and excellent musical numbers,
the “Puss in Boots” will certainly be another surprise for child audiences, but not only for them – as this piece speaks out about situations that only adults can comprehend. The premiere of the play is set for 9 October 2009.
On a different note, the implementation of other projects planned at the Youth Theatre is extremely doubtful, and will depend only on available funds – which are unfortunately decreasing with every month. The actors and staff of the Sarajevo Youth Theatre
hope that they will be able to offer new plays to their child and adult audiences – but this hope will only become a reality if the “powers to be” in this country approach this situation as something tragic, and do something to prevent culture in the capital
of Bosnia and Herzegovina from dying out.
The play premieres: 9. October 2009. godine

William Shakespeare „The Tempest“
Director: :Drago Buka
Cast: Nermin Tulić Elma Ahmetović Ajla Cabrera Damir Kustura Sanin Milavić Boris Ler
Mirza Tanović Alma Merunka Adnan Goro
"Yet with my nobler reason 'gaitist my fury
Do I take part: the rarer action is
In virtue than in vengeance."(The Tempest, Act V, Scene I)
These words spoken by Prospero portray an image of the tempest as a manifestation of the forces of nature, and, at
the same time, also a metaphor for the growing dilemma of a man whose conscience is still alive and speaking out. But how are we to present the world
of Shakespeare’s “Tempest” to children? How do we bring young minds closer to the significance and genuineness of Prospero’s aim to forgive and not
seek revenge? Drago Buka´s direction of this play, based on playful, intricate and perpetually magical puppetry, presents the world of “The Tempest” as a
world of fairytales. As we have daily proof, and ever more of it, the world around us is increasingly becoming an extreme manifestation of good and evil,
just as is the case in a fairytale – with the exception that, in the fairytales that are our lives, good does not always prevail. In fact, most of us, regardless of
age and experience, have ceased believing in the dual reality in which good sometimes overcomes evil. This puppet play was created in the aim of
portraying to the young a reality that, regardless of all its tempests, conflicts and horrors, always leaves room for man to remain human, which is how
Prospero characterizes himself at the end of this wonderful Shakespearean tale. Regardless of time and place, the only real magical “good guys” of our,
plainly fairytale, reality are those individuals who know how to forgive or how to admit to their own mistakes, or those who know how to love with all their
heart or how to pass that knowledge to others… In the words of director Buka: “I will be happy if at least one child changes leaves this performance
convinced that we should forgive, love, learn…”.
The play premieres: 23.may 2008.

"ALADIN"
Author of the project : Kaća Dorić
(direction,text)
Cast: Sanin Milavić Alma Merunka Boris Ler Narda Nikšić Drago Buka
Ajla Cabrera Mirza Tanović Edhem Husić Damir Kustura Sead Bejtović Nermin Tulić
The play „Aladin“, as directed by Kaća Dorić, and adapted by Kaća Dorić and Nenad Veličković,
has become an essential contemporary fairytale. Contemporary because it allows both children and adults to identify themselves
with the everyday situations and phenomena that are part of the world of family, media and politics around them. “Aladin”
remains a fairytale, because the power of Alladin´s lamp, or that of Džin-džin the genie – which gives an ordinary man the
chance to make one or three life wishes come true - is used to help the positive values in life prevail, or in short, for a happy
end to take place. This light-hearted and in no way naively told fairytale, geared to children and to adults, seduces us with
its lively colours, songs and dynamics, but also provokes thought about the kind of world our children are living in, and in
what way this world, our world and that of our children, can be made better. “Aladin” is a play that the children view with
playful and careless excitement, and the adults with an approving smile.
All we can say, in short, is that we live in a time when both children and adults need educational fairytales, that teach them
how to make their everyday world better for the future, and that our future does not have to resemble our past.
The play premiered on 5. October 2007.
Awards received:
1. The „Prsten Tmače“ (The Key of Tmača) Award for Best Actor in Theatre Production of 2007 - Boris Ler, for the role of Aladin

It sometimes seems that the process of creating a puppet play is nothing but „stealing work“ from those who do it much better that we do. You know who we are referring to: the CHILDREN. Dolls and games are their everyday tasks, and they are the only true professionals. They are successful in places where we adults can only dream of achieving success. They are, at the same time, both „the actors“ and „the animators“, the puppets and the audience.
All the same, we dared to offer them OUR game, our story, and our play. “THE SKY-HIGH PINE”, a fairytale that introduces us to a mischievous boy, an old wizard, a likeable giant, a mum of gold... We won’t tell you the rest. Come and see for yourselves.
Awards received:
Narda Nikšić, for the role of Petar, awarded by the International Children’s Puppet Festival “LUTFEST 2007“, Istočno Sarajevo.

CROCODILE IN LOVE
Author: Daniela Kulot
Direction: : Drago Buka
Cast: :
Alma Merunka, Ajla Frljučkić, Elma Ahmetović
«CROCODILE IN LOVE» is one of those plays that compel us to add on to and alter the dictionary of theatre. In fact, we firmly believe that we cannot simply call this production “a play for children”, because, if we did, we would be forgetting and leaving out the multitude of theatregoers who find the play, produced in the Czech black theatre technique, both interesting and entertaining. For that reason, we hope not to err in saying that this is simply “A PLAY FOR THE ENTIRE AUDIENCE”.
In this simple love story (assuming that such love stories exist), we follow a Crocodile and a Giraffe in their attempts to use sincere emotions to overcome one of the biggest hurdles tackled in theatre has since its inception- that of diversity. The play’s outstanding puppets, precise animation and genuine involvement by the actors will certainly convince even the fainthearted, of the nature and magnitude of the strength of theatre, and compel us to, once again, fall in love with the magic that it has to offer. “CROCODILE IN LOVE” is perhaps nothing more that a lovely 40-minute DREAM that we dream together. So come, and let’s dream!
Dođite da sanjamo!
